March 2005 Seed Distribution

It is already the third year that HDP, in cooperation with UMCOR, is distributing vegetable and flower seeds to vulnerable families of Armenia. The goal of this program is to help Armenia’s rural population to develop their agricultural skills, knowledge, and finally, to get healthier food. We are happy to announce that the number of our beneficiaries in 2005 is more than 4400 in different marzes of Armenia.

The number of people who benefited from Seed program grew this year and included Shirak, Gegharqunik, Armavir, Tavush and Syunik marzes.

During the distribution of seeds HDP’s volunteers came to help again: Anahit, Tatevik, Gohar, Hrach, etc. They made family packages to be distributed to individual families. Likewise, beneficiaries from rural communities volunteered to distribute the seeds, make lists, take pictures, etc. In addition, PC volunteers Mathew Soniat, Merry Jirgerson and Nick Gayameria helped us to deliver seeds in their villages.

We happy to note that all varieties of seeds were planted and the beneficiaries were satisfied with the results. In addition, the distributed flower seeds will beautify many of their gardens and warm their hearts. To sum, 4460 families benefited from HDP’s Seed distribution in 2005.
